Commander

Gregory McCullers

Gregory A. McCullers served in the United States Army for 3 years (1988-1991). His military occupational specialty (MOS) was 01H (Biological Sciences Assistant). After his service, he transitioned into the biotech industry and has worked as a scientist for over 30 years.

Prior to joining the military, Mr. McCullers earned his Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Biology and Chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Class of 1987). In 2007, he earned a Master of Business Administration from University of Phoenix. He is currently a Quality Control Analyst V at Leidos Biomedical Research, Inc.

Mr. McCullers is passionate about helping veterans’ transition from military to civilian employment and advocacy for veteran’s mental health. He has been married to his Army sweetheart, Shelia, for more than 30 years. They have three children.

Vice Commander

Paul Flemings

Paul Flemings is a 26-year Retired Army Veteran and 100% Disabled Veteran. He served in various leadership positions throughout his time in the military. Paul’s background is Logistics and he received his Masters in Business Administration, with a concentration in Supply Chain Management in 2012, prior to his military retirement from the Army in February 2014. Paul is married with three daughters and 5 grandkids.

Paul is passionate about helping Veterans and their families. He has worked in the past with the Veterans Affairs to assist other veterans in getting information and benefits that they and their families are entitled to receive.

Paul looks forward to the challenge of building something special for the NABVETS chapter in Frederick, Maryland, and the surrounding area. He is a big proponent of education and assisting others, and doing what is best for the veterans, their families, and the community.

Also serves as Education Squad Leader.

Secretary

Shelia Russell McCullers

Dr. Shelia Russell McCullers proudly served in the United States Army. During her tour at the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) at Fort Detrick, she conducted research of potential biological weapons. She also performed on the drill team, and she was selected as the 1986 Soldier of the Year for USAMRIID. With the experience gained in the Army, she was able to acquire employment as a scientist in the biotechnology industry where she discovered a novel antibody which bears her name.

Prior to joining the military, Dr. McCullers earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After transitioning from the Army, she earned a Master of Science in Biotechnology Management and a Doctor of Management in Organizational Leadership. She is currently a Quality Assurance Manager with a focus on clinical trials sponsored by the National Institutes of Health. She is also an international instructor for clinical research, laboratory research and risk management.

In her spare time, Dr. McCullers enjoys reciting original poems within the community. She also enjoys volunteering to assist veterans. She is married to her Army sweetheart, and they have a son and twin daughters.

Dr Samuel Christian

Dr. Samuel Christian graduated from Howard University College of Medicine and practiced surgery in Ohio. He served as Army Reserve Battalion Surgeon in the 983rd Combat Engineers and retired as Major. His main interests are veteran well-being and retiree wealth management.
